Fifty years before Lyra was born, eight Fae lineages waged a devastating war over territory and resources across the Fae lands bordering the realm of the demons.
The eight lineages—Thrudor, Gemariel, Igsvar, Aulith, Sarrakha, Drazhune, Sonareth, and Hemaliel—each possessed its own distinct magical affinity. Their High Lords led their armies through a prolonged and brutal struggle for dominance.
Among them, Aethrador, High Lord of the Thrudor Fae, ultimately prevailed.
After his victory, Aethrador united the eight Fae lineages under a single kingdom, which he named Tharion—a name formed from Thar, “protective strength,” and Rion, “sacred land.”
He became its first king and established the royal palace upon Thrudor lands.
The other High Lords did not fully submit to him. Yet none possessed the strength to oppose Aethrador outright, and they had little choice but to accept his rule.
To preserve the sovereignty of their own peoples, the seven remaining High Lords gathered to negotiate the terms under which they would enter the new kingdom. Together with Aethrador, they established the Alliance Compact of Tharion.
