Upright meaning
Stepping away from noise can make room for what matters. The Hermit is not necessarily sad or lonely: the lantern-bearer has reached a height and can illuminate the next stretch of road without seeing the whole journey. The card suits research, mentorship, reflection, and decisions that need time to ripen.

Reversed meaning
Silence may become withdrawal from a supportive community, or a person may struggle to sit alone with a difficult question. What is needed may be a bounded retreat or a return to trusted support.
